John is Managing Partner of O’Connor LLP with 30 years’ experience as a commercial and administrative lawyer advising a range of PLC’s, Statutory Regulators, NGO’s and Charitable Institutions. John heads the firm Dispute Resolution Litigation Department acting in a range of complex matters. John advised a religious order in relation to the establishment of a Redress Scheme for victims of clerical abuse. In ADR, John acted in a commercial mediation involving a complex insurance dispute involving six parties in a claim for indemnification by the insured.

Most recently John has represented a tenderer in challenge to a procurement process for air ambulance services in the Irish Commercial Court.

In 2022 John also advised Medical Representative Bodies in connection with the new Public Contract offered to Irish Hospital Consultants.

John has particular experience dealing with crisis management for clients including representing clients in Competition Enforcement and Regulatory proceedings as well as corporate governance matters. John acts for a number of Educational Institutions at secondary and tertiary level advising on disputes with students, data protection issues and employment matters as well as lecturing in the Law Society of Ireland Diploma in Employment Law.

John has spoken at the National Conference in Charity Law and has jointly authored Thompson Reuters’ online “Charitable Organisations in Ireland – an Overview”.
