Katelin Toomey
Katelin is a Senior Associate at O’Connor LLP. She previously worked in the Real Estate department of a large global law firm for over 10 years.
Katelin is a commercial property transactions lawyer and advises on all aspects of commercial property transactions, including the acquisition, financing and disposal of real estate assets, as well as the negotiation of commercial leases from both a landlord and tenant perspective. Katelin also acts for Approved Housing Bodies on the acquisition and financing of residential developments and for private clients on the acquisition and sale of residential properties.
Recent transactions include:
- Advising Dulux Paints on the rectification of title issues and the disposal of its site at Commons Road, Cork, including various court applications, environmental matters and the sale of the site.
- Advising various French SCPIs on Irish acquisitions, including the acquisition of an office block in Dublin City Centre with a value in excess of €42 million.
- Acting for an Irish pillar bank on financing transactions, including the financing of six retail parks.
- Advising on the disposal of a shopping centre in Dublin with a value in excess of €38 million.
- Advising landlords on portfolios of commercial leases (including leases at one of Ireland’s largest shopping centres) and advising tenants on the negotiation and restructure of commercial leases.
- Providing bespoke advice to landlords and tenants on green leases, including advising a major landlord on the regearing of an entire lease portfolio to incorporate green lease clauses.
- Advising receivers and banks on the disposal of distressed assets.
- Advising on the acquisition of residential and commercial assets in Dublin, including large-scale multi-unit residential blocks and mixed-use schemes.
Katelin holds an LLB from Trinity College Dublin and an LLM Masters in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics (LSE) as well as a diploma in commercial property law from the Law Society.
Katelin has recently co-authored various articles and guides, including the Legal 500 Real Estate Comparative Guide (2024 and 2025), Thomson Reuters Practical Law Commercial Real Estate Global Guide (Ireland, 2024), a Chambers Expert Focus article on the EU’s green agenda and its impact on the real estate and construction sector, and a CIF article on innovative construction and sustainability.
